Oh, wow, cannot wait to get a better picture of this one.

Just got this email
It is a form email, but it is a good email. You may read it here if you'd like. It is an announcement for the 2012 Harvey Award ballots.
I did not put my name on this list. Someone else put my name on this list.
Soooo, uh, because this could have come from several sources just off the top of my head, here's a list of awesome things:
Womanthology is going to be published soon! Later than expected, yes, but I don't think anyone was prepared for this kind of overwhelmingly positive reaction. Aaaaand BAM: amazon link.
Then of course there's SPACE, which I have mentioned fairly recently. Double good news there: I'm waiting for a couple of details to shake out, but I am definitely going to be attending this year (there had been some wibbly wobblyness with the waiting list, but yaaaaaaaaaay!)
And then there's all the friends in the industry that I've made over the last few years. It's pretty darn late at this point, so you all'd better drop links to your sites yourselves in the reply section, 'cause I don't have my bookmarks organized nicely right now. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ALL ARE.
EDIT: WHY CAN I NEVER GET GIFS TO WORK? For now, if you want to see what the black box is actually supposed to be, click it. I will fix it after sleeps.

regarding radio silence
Just in case anyone was worried that I'd up and died: fear not, for I have not.
My overall plan for this trip is to spend a few days in each new location and then move on. Obviously this was not the case in either Louisville or Chattanooga, and it hasn't been the case in Jacksonville, my current location. All of this is for the same reason, which is that I had a long term landing place at a friend's house and I wanted to get there as quickly as possible.
There should be a new painting up tomorrow, though. I scouted out a likely location but then got distracted by a trip to Orlando.
Should be good times :)

Louisville, KY (drawing)
I got in too late to do a painting. Or get to a non-chain restaurant, even. My last minute plan to find bar food was thwarted by the fact that it's Monday. So I drew this in a steak and shake instead.
Hm....gonna have to play with the picture settings on my phone.
It turns out that along a stretch of highway through Indiana there is a huge wind farm and it is amazing to drive through. There was even a super convenient rest stop to get out and take pictures right at the beginning of it.
A couple weeks ago when I was visiting a friend in Michigan I drove by some newer turbines that were being set up and missed the opportunity to photograph them, so I'm really glad that this got to happen.

The Great Post-Graduation Road Trip and Paint A Thon
I've mentioned my plans for this in brief previously, but the time is upon us so it deserves it's own posting.
Tomorrow (er...later today) I will be heading out on a big honkin' road trip of unstructured time and painterly awesomeness.
The first major stop is going to be in Jacksonville FL, where my best friend and her family are, and in the meantime I'll be stopping briefly in Louisville KY and Chattanooga TN. I have hotels booked and everything.
Originally I had planned to spend two or three days in each of these places, but when I was originally planning the trip, I was aiming to be there in late December/early January, so I think it's best to just blast on through at this point, at least to start.
I'll be updating with paintings and stories as I go, so updates should be fairly frequent, if brief.
Wish me luck :)
